FAQ
Frequently asked
questions
Is pwrdby free?
Yes. pwrdby is completely free to use. Connect your Spotify and Strava accounts and your workouts will automatically include your music history — no subscription, no paywall.
How does pwrdby know what I was listening to?
pwrdby uses the Spotify recently-played API. When your Strava activity finishes, pwrdby fetches the tracks you played during the activity's time window, matching them by the timestamp each track was listened to.
What activity types are supported?
Any Strava activity where you also had Spotify playing — runs, rides, hikes, walks, gym workouts, or anything else. If Spotify was on and Strava recorded it, pwrdby can match them.
Does it sync automatically or do I have to do it manually?
Automatically. Strava sends a webhook to pwrdby the moment you complete an activity. pwrdby then matches your Spotify history and updates the activity description — usually within seconds. You can also trigger a manual sync from the dashboard.
Will pwrdby overwrite my existing Strava description?
No. pwrdby appends the music section to the end of your existing activity description — it never overwrites what you've already written.
What if I wasn't listening to Spotify during a workout?
If no Spotify tracks are found during the activity window, pwrdby skips that activity — your description stays unchanged. Nothing is added if there's no music to add.
What data does pwrdby store?
pwrdby stores your Strava activity ID, the matched track list, and your encrypted OAuth tokens. We never sell your data. Track names and artists from synced activities are used only to power the app (including anonymised community statistics shown on the landing page).
What are the community stats on the landing page?
Total miles run, songs played, minutes of music, and runners synced are aggregated across all pwrdby users and updated every 5 minutes. No personally identifiable information is included — only anonymous totals and the most-played songs for the current day.
